When the weather starts to warm up and the sun is in the sky bit longer each day; the Kustoms, Hot Rods, Street Rods, Classic Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles begin to come out of hibernation in the Denver metro area. One of the best vantage points to observe these magnificent mechanical beasts in their natural habitat is located a scant 12 miles from my front door in beautiful Golden, Colorado.
On the first Saturday evening of each month, from May through October, the City of Golden welcomes the Golden Super Cruise to town. This is a nonprofit free public event that welcomes all to come out and enjoy a bit of classic Americana. There are no entry fees or classifications. All cars, trucks and bikes are welcome. The rules are few, but important; as following them allows the cruise to continue with the blessing of the City of Golden. No speeding, no burnouts, follow all traffic rules, and park in designated areas – pretty simple, common sense stuff.
If you come out to the event you will see the streets lined with thousands of smiling spectators and participants alike, all enjoying the sights, sounds and family friendly atmosphere. The businesses along the route work with the participants, appreciating the huge happy crowds. There are vendors along the way, with snacks and gift items, many geared towards the motor head inclined. Since the speeds are slow and noise is low, lots of folks bring their dogs along for the ride or walk with them along the route.
I will be at each of the events shooting pictures for the organizer’s web site (weather and event schedule permitting). I hope to meet you there!
PLEASE – If you see a photo from the event that you like on the www.GoldenSuperCruise.com website, and you don’t see it on the Driven Imagery website let me know. Send a note with your car, truck or bike description and which event you were in to Info@driven-imagery.com. In addition, Mike takes thousands of photos at each event and only a fraction of them are posted on line. He will be happy to look for images of your vehicle and pass along samples via email for your review.
